Flaming Moon
This astonishing image was taken from our house, across the valley to the hills opposite at around midnight. I had been completely unaware of anything going on until I walked into the kitchen and was presented with this image through the window! After regaining my composure, summoning everyone else in the house to bear witness and reassuring myself we had not wandered in to Wicker Man territory, I took a few photographs with my elderly compact camera with the flash turned off, here are some of the results:-

Why?
We know these were controlled burnings as they were going on all over the hillsides but why it is done, I have no idea? If anyone does know I would be delighted to know what this is for.
