Another stunning beach, fine sand, a river with lagoon and this time with the added benefit of the largest remaining dinosaur footprints yet found! What more could anyone ask for a day on the beach? Situated just beyond the fine little town of Colunga at the base of a steep river valley, La Griega is an excellent family beach. Waves are good but not too daunting, a couple of places to eat and drink, car parking doesn't seem to be much of a problem and there are terrific rocks and rock pools to explore when the tide is low. Including aforementioned fossilised Dino footprints. The setting is delightful with views across to Lastres fishing village. With the recently built imposing and much praised MUJA Jurassic Museum looking down from the hills above like some strange UFO.
