Playa de Rodiles
Playa de Rodiles is a spectacular sweep of sand over 1000 meters long. Situated about 5 Km from Villaviciosa. This is one of the most popular beaches in Eastern Asturias and gets busy, though because of its sheer size and shape not crowded. Backed by a shady wood of Pine and Eucalyptus and offering the best of both worlds bathing wise. The main beach has fantastic,sometimes overwhelming surf (and in season very enthusiastic life guards). At one end of the beach there is a river inlet, follow this along the sea fortification and you have a second much calmer beach and lagoon. Perfect for less strenuous activies including canoe hire to explore the river. Be warned, parking a car might be the most challenging and frightening activity you face if you arrive after 1.30 in the month of August!
